First, Madagascar is among the
poorest countries despite its biological and cultural richness due to
the educational system .Malagasy children lack an adequate educational
system such as materials (books, class rooms) and pedagogy teachers. Being poor
makes it difficult to the government to spend much money on
education and most kids lacked basic educational supplies. Illiteracy also is one of the sectors of the
poverty in Madagascar. It has remained a terrible ulcer on the leg of development
in our country .it makes a difficulty to push in the development
In Madagascar the lack of infrastructure
makes peoples to be poor because peoples from the countries are the sources of
the development but we don’t have it enough. To support that; we can estimate that
Madagascar has 48,827 km of roads, of which just 5,780 km are paved.
These figures are probably optimistic; many of Madagascar’s paved roads are in
terrible shape, filled with potholes and or wide enough for only vehicle. Also,
cyclone and others weather conditions damage the bridges and the
roads in our country; it is rare to have a reconstructions of these destruction.
In addition, the trouble politic is
among causes of poverty in Madagascar .Since January 2009, Madagascar was lived
in a politic crisis, generated by an unconstitutional changing government .The
political crisis makes Madagascar brake on economic growth. Four and half year s
into the crisis; the effects on Madagascar’s economic and social outcomes have
been very severe.For instance: the economy has stalled, income per capital has fallen,
poverty has sharply increased and social outcome s has worsened.
Added to that, corruption is the constrains of
development in Madagascar; especially the leaders of the government. In the
poor country, the head of the government always corrupts the economy. For
example: the “bois de rose”, only the head has right to exploit theses.
Besides the
causes, there are many consequences of the poverty in Madagascar. These impacts
of poverty are devastating especially the country sides; they don’ have an
ability to improve their life condition ; the farmers lack the appropriate technology, updated
skills, modern technology, capacity building; lack of capital to invest this sector, because of
poor state, the economic sector has been affected. Today, there is a massive of
immigration: people to the country sides must move to the city in order to find
a best life condition; after that; the city must becomes overpopulated.
Because of the poverty
situation, there are a succession problem of politic such as “coup d’états”,
dictatorship, military rule and many leaders staying so long on the power. We
can take an example of transition: there were two transitions in Madagascar and
there were military rule also.
Finally, poverty increases the
corruption here in Madagascar, the corrupter abuses their power to corrupt
because it is only one way to have a best life condition easily.
Due to this fact,
poverty –related problems like malnutrition, diseases such as HIV/AIDS,
juvenile delinquency, disillusionment, jobless, social insecurity…
After saying the causes and consequences of the poverty, I am going to
give the solutions to resolve the problems of poverty in Madagascar. For the
educational system, government should take their responsible for improving the
educational system. For example, provide training for teacher and distributing
backpacks and school supply for children.
Economically, government
should work to move away from the old system to attract foreign investment that
will build a sustainable business models such as resource extraction, mines;
that will play a factor of development of Madagascar. Poverty is released to
the increasing population in Madagascar, so, government should removes to use the contraception in order to prevent the
baby boom. To add it, the politic system should be ameliorated; changing system
and give and job to the young graduate.
To conclude, in Madagascar,
poverty is caused by many reasons such as bad educational system, politic
system and the lack of infrastructure, so, there are many impacts. Sustainable development
can be given if poverty is eradicated first. If everyone takes his responsibility,
we can wine and leave the poverty; then the dream of sustainable development
will still be far bring in.
